There is an alternative strategy between ignoring enemies and letting them do whatever they want to do on the one hand and crushing their mangled bodies beneath your feet on the other. It's called resolution.
We must accept that Islam can be the enemy of freedom and democracy. Islamism, the various political forms of Islam, can be a challenge to democracy, the rule of law and what we might call western decency and liberal civilized values. However just because we can see that Islamism is not a perversion of Islam but Islam done the way the founder intended it to be done it does not follow that we cannot live with Muslims under any circumstances.
We just need resolve.
Have you heard about the war on graffiti? This is the regime by which people suspected of writing on walls are attacked before they get to the shop that sells paint and they are beaten to a pulp and people who use a graffiti style of artwork, showing pro-graffiti sentiments and graffitiist mindsets, are thrown out of the country. That will show the bastards, eh?
No, not really.
Graffiti is a problem, it is criminal damage, it should not be tolerated and those who engage in it should be treated as criminals and anti-social selfish arseholes with no respect for private or public property. But there is no reason to declare war on them and to fight them physically, to go outside the law or demean ourselves. The correct strategy is resolution, standing firm behind our own superior values. We can make things harder for them to damage our property, we can collect intelligence about the culprits, we can boycott companies which use graffiti to suggest that their products or brand values are cool or street. We can charge the full value of the cost of cleaning up after graffiti and of policing it to those caught doing it. That is being resolute. It is not fun. Breaking the legs of those who do graffiti would be much more fun, but that would be wrong. Anybody who can afford a spray can can afford to get a website instead. There is no excuse for stealing parts of the urban landscape for fourth rate creativity or half-arsed protest.
Resolution is the answer. Not surrender to the lawless who want to impose their ideas and ways on us uninvited. The same is true for Islam. We must be resolute against it. We must stand firm against it. We don't approve. We don't like it. We can say that. It is not hatespeech to claim that our values are superior to theirs. Declaring that we have superior values is not bigoted any more than it is bigoted to make a stand against graffiti, abusing apostrophes or public incontinence. It's called freedom: having an opinion and expressing it. Freedom's good. I sometimes get the feeling I was off sick on the day the memo was sent, but that is not true, no decision was ever taken that made cultural relativism the compulsory mindset of everybody in the west. We are still allowed to think and have opinions, even to think that our values are superior. The appeasing left, the left who have stolen and trashed the noble label of liberal, have not made a cultural lobotomy compulsory. You are still allowed to think and even to be proud of the values of your society. Whisper it, but it is even allowed to be proud of the values our people have shown in the past.
The answer to Islamism is resolution. Not fighting fire with fire. Not giving them a taste of their own medicine, not putting them in their place. Resolution. Not violence. Resolution. Standing up for our beliefs. It is not the soft option, it is the hardest option but the correct one. It is not laying down and surrendering, it is not giving up our values in the name of our values. Resolution is the firm middle way. The straight and narrow road that is the only way to meet the challenge.
Fighting is easy, toddlers can manage it. Collecting material to make bombs is not the answer. It might people feel good, it might feel like you are part of the armed resistance, but it is self-indulgent psychowankery. So is daubing graffiti and putting up silly stickers. Grow up, get a grip and do something responsible and productive instead.
The Islamists like the left, at the moment, because they give them what they want. The left are anti-American, to a fault. The left sympathize with the underdogs, and Muslims are good at looking like underdogs when they want concessions. But there is nothing socialist about Islam. The politics of Islamism are very much closer to fascism than they are to democratic socialism and there is nothing even remotely liberal or progressive about Islamic social values. If calling for tough prison sentences and standing against gay marriage and abortion are dangerously right wing, if you're white, what do you call those who want to mutilate criminals, stone adulterers, flog people who drink beer, ban dancing and bury homosexuals alive? I suppose in PC terms you could say they were liberally challenged. Or you could say they were crazy and dangerous right wing nutters, unless you are a lefty, in which case you're totally blind to their faults.
It has been said that you confuse a Daily Mail reader by telling him an asylum seeker has murdered a paedophile. But the left are already far more hopelessly confused and hopeless in general, supporting the most offensive and regressive tendencies to be found anywhere in modern politics: misogynist, authoritarian, anti-democratic, homophobic and antisemitic. Is not being white and hating America all that really matters for these arseholes? Any enemy of Uncle Sam is an ally for them?
The left are dogged by binary thinking, people are either right on and good, or right wing and evil. Being part of a persecuted minority makes you right. Unless you're a Zionist, in which case you're evil. This is nonsense. Arseholes come in all colours. Being in a minority doesn't make you right. Surely this concept should ring a bell with democrats somewhere? Being discriminated against or mistrusted doesn't make you right. Coming from a community which historically has had power does not make you incapable of being right about anything. For goodness sake you left-wing pillocks look and see who you are defending! Islamists are far worse kinds of fascists than any crew-cut sporting sycophant of George W Bush. They are not on your side. They regard you as useful idiots.
