Beyond PC: Politically Allowable

Have you ever seen graffiti which reads Smash the Labour Party?

Have you ever seen a poster which read Smash the Welsh Nationalists?

Have you ever seen a counter demonstration protesting against and trying to prevent the staging of an anti-nuclear protest?

Have you ever read a newspaper editorial which said that the environmentalist movement must be denied a platform to spread its abhorrent views?

I will assume that you haven't. But I'll bet you will have seen graffiti which calls for the smashing of the BNP. You will have seen posters which have been vandalized because they contained a message about curbing immigration. And you will be aware of organizations who can guarantee that every time they have a protest in public there will be counter demonstrations manned by young agitators who go along to protest, to cause trouble and to therefore associate the original protesters with violence and confrontation.

What would happen if the Women's Institute faced counter-demonstrations every time they tried to hold a jumble sale? How long would it be before there was a call to proscribe the organization?

What would be the outcry if there was a movement to actively suppress Plaid Cymru and stifle all and any aspirations towards Welsh nationalism? Imagine every time Plaid Cymru put up a poster it was vandalized, and every time they held a meeting it was picketed by a bunch of thugs who tried to drown out the speakers and vandalize the cars belonging to the supporters.

Imagine that if anybody raised the subject of increasing the excise duty on cigarettes they were vilified, called scum and told they had no business even thinking such a thing let alone speaking about it in public.

Such a state of affairs would be unthinkable and intolerable. We would not stand for it.

And yet we do seem to stand for fascist street level thuggery when it comes to the subject of immigration. Anybody who expresses an opinion the red fascists don't approve of will receive their rebuke, censure, protests, picketing, graffiti, vandalism and hate campaign. We have moved way beyond the world of PC, this is not about what is politically correct, this is about what is politically allowable. The red fascists, and their Muslim green fascist allies, have stated that certain opinions are not Politically Allowable, they cannot be allowed to spread from one mind to another. There are thoughts which you are not allowed to make public. You cannot spread them. You cannot organize around them. If you do not attack them constantly you are seen to be condoning them, because what possible motive for defending the right of people to have, hold and express such beyond the pale ideas be if not that they themselves share them? Those who defend witches must be witches!

It's time to call bullshit on this.

I do not support the platform of the BNP or the UK Independence Party - or the Labour Party, or the Greens, or Plaid Cymru. But I do support the right to have opinions, to express them and to seek the support of people who are of a similar mind, however small and warped it may be.

It is not legitimate to have an organization whose sole purpose is to attempt to deny other people a chance to promote their own views. If you don't support the BNP or the English Defence League then don't join them, don't vote for them, don't stick up posters supporting them and don't come out and join their protests. The best way to stop the BNP getting elected is to go to the seats where they are fielding candidates and support whichever other party stands the best chance of denying them victory.

They won't do that of course because that's work. That takes effort and it isn't in the slightest bit glamorous. They much prefer three hours of chanting and half-hearted missile throwing, the only opportunity they get to be violent toward chavs without feeling guilty, to doing something which may actually make a difference.

The BNP received a grand total of five hundred and sixty three thousand seven hundred and forty three votes at the general election this May. A truly pathetic total. I have good reason to believe that there are more left-handed homosexuals in this country that that pitiful figure.

There is no reason, nor good excuse, to attempt to smash the BNP. There is no reason why any political view should ever be regarded as being unthinkable in a democracy. If you don't like somebody's views campaign against the view, campaign for those who oppose the view but don't expect support if you just attempt to silence people.

And before anybody accuses me of being a hypocrite for sounding off against censorship while I have blocked people from my channel or forum there is a difference between censoring one outlet and censoring on every outlet. I block people from my channel, I ban people from my forum but I don't go chasing them and trying to get them thrown off YouTube or get their websites taken down and trying to drown them out whenever they try to express their views anywhere – but that is what is happening with people who put forward views, common views, including sentiments supported by over two thirds of the public, which the left have now decided are not Politically Allowable.
