If you value freedom you are Geert Wilders. Whenever freedom is under attack it is you who is being attacked. If you regard freedom as somebody else's problem you don't deserve to live in freedom.
Geert Wilders is not a racist. That is the simple jibe that is so easy to aim at anybody who does not subscribe to every article of the politically correct creed of righteous leftism but it really has no power against Geert Wilders as he is so very clearly nothing of the sort. He does not care at all about colour or race. He has many allies who are all shades and hues. What he cares about is European culture and freedom. Islam is a threat to this because it is not just a religion, as if the word just could ever apply to a religion. Islam is a political creed which teaches concepts which are antithetical to western liberal traditions. Maybe you disagree with his suggestions. Fine, don't vote for him, but don't make him into a criminal for speaking his mind. That is not the way a free country should work.
Many Muslims freely acknowledge that western values and Islam are irredeemably in conflict, these are the honest ones. Many more prevaricate, lie and dissemble, making out that Islam is something which it is clearly not. They invite you to study the Qur'an and the hadith more closely, somehow expecting us to see in them what they want and try so hard to see. But when we read these works we see what is there, a work that is obsessed with unbelievers and their imagined painful fate. It is a book of hate and a manual for world conquest. Islam is not something to be done one day a week or for a minute before meals and bedtime, it is an entire life plan and blueprint for every aspect of life for the whole of humanity. This is makes it a threat to our lifestyles, to our freedom, to our nation states and to the whole of our civilization. What is the civilization of which I speak? It is the west, the free world, Christendom and the world of post-Christian humanism. It's most of the world that is not infected by Islam. It is those parts of the world you wouldn't mind living in. When you think about the west, the free world and so on I assume you include England and Holland in that conception. We'd like to keep it that way. Me and my friend Geert.
You have to defend your freedom where it is being attacked, at or even beyond your borders, not wait until the enemy is running through the streets of your capital close to your inner sanctum. They are not going to start by attacking the Queen, Bono, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry and David Attenborough, they will start with those who are regarded as extreme, disreputable, expendable. This is the way it always goes. They try to pull one out from the herd and hope the herd leaves it to be a sacrificial victim to appease the predator's hunger. If you wait until they're attacking people who are significantly nicer than you then you will have lost the war before you started to fight. Just when will you feel that you are under threat, and what kind of cowardly appeasing spineless self-deluding fools will be left when the time comes to stand up for you?
