Why Bolsheviks Don't Blow Up Billionaires
To the poor freedom isn't worth much,
to the rich it is everything.
If you haven't got the necessities of life freedom is a luxury, and
often it is a luxury you can't really afford. If you have all the luxuries
of life freedom becomes the only necessity, because it is the foundation
of it all, something you have to get your men to fight for. Of course
when you are selling it to others so they can ensure you keep it you
call it freedom. Its real name is property, the idea that government
should do nothing but ensure you get to keep your pile, if necessary
removing the life, property and freedom of anybody who gets in the way
of that goal, and if they're heathen foreigners without even pausing
to count the bodies.
In the musical Annie evil Bolsheviks are seen trying to kill
billionaire Oliver Warbucks, apparently out of jealousy and fear that
he is an object lesson that capitalism works, but then the Bolshevik
is not given any lines. How absurd, as if the existence of a billionaire
proved capitalism was either healthy or fair. The name Warbucks probably
reveals a political consciousness that has subsequently been strangled
in America. The resentment of capitalists profiting (more accurately profiteering,
that is making a profit the person doing the labeling doesn't morally
approve of) from war (the First World War in particular) has been a major
cause of the growth of socialist and communist parties right the way
across the world in the first half of the twentieth century. However
America's fledgling socialist movement was strangled by the most vicious
character (at least) assassinations instigated by the American press
magnates.
When was the last time somebody jealously tried to blow
up Bill Gates? This idea that socialists are envious and scared of success
is quite laughable. It is no more credible than the idea that Osama Bin
Laden is motivated by hatred of American freedom rather than hatred of
America's bullying and empire building in “Muslim lands”, i.e.
the American crypto-empire is treading on the toes of the Muslim empire.
No Bolshevik would want to kill Oliver Warbucks (at least before the
revolution) it's a silly idea. How many people have ever been murdered
because of envy of their wealth? America is the land where politicians,
political activists and trade unionists get murdered, not billionaires.
Remember Jackie married a billionaire after her politician husband was
murdered, not the other way around. That is significant.
If an American businessman gets murdered you've usually got a pretty
good idea what kind of business he was in, haven't you? |
