Half a Mind to Vote BNP?

You're over-qualified.

Why don't I support the BNP? Some people ask me this, sometimes because they are supporters of the BNP and sometimes because they see me as their enemy and get a bit confused when people don't stand exactly where their guns are trained.

I don't support the BNP because I am a liberal, I believe in freedom and democracy and I am not a racist. I am a nationalist only as a medium term strategy. I will not be fighting for British independence against the Terran Federation. I would love to see humanity and the people of Earth organize something bigger and better than the current crop of competing nation states. But at the moment there is no clear way to get to such a desirable state – a genuine New World Order. At the moment we need nation states to protect our freedoms. That is why I cannot wholeheartedly support any overtly nationalist party, because I don't regard any nation state as ultimately desirable and worthy of my perpetual loyalty. I am a utilitarian, I don't hold a lot of ideological baggage about ways and means. I am pragmatic. I don't believe in making huge sacrifices for the ultra long term but I am prepared to make moderate sacrifices for medium term goals. I would not support investing every penny we earn in order to put men on Mars or setting out to eliminate sin from the human heart but I will pay for a mortgage and support a just and winnable war that is likely to be over well within a decade.

The BNP are a nationalist party and I am not a nationalist, not really. The BNP are also overtly racist and many of them are quite unapologetic about it. They think other people are inferior to them because of their genes, their race, their colour, these people are incapable of being civilized because of their nature. I think that is nonsense. While I think it would be simply too convenient to be credible that every human population however you split it up will always have identical scores and spreads of scores for all politically sensitive measures you could test it is also clear that all races and groups have exceptional people within their number and there is no human group you could point to that was incapable of producing people with the ability to be doctors, fighter pilots, architects or statesmen. Some people will be horrified that I dare express any scepticism of the view that all human groups are equal. Fuck them. Expressing scepticism is something I will always do as long as I have breath in my body. Let's be quite clear about this I think all people should be treated as individuals and treated according to the abilities they demonstrate, not according to the potential which some outsider declares that they must have because of their membership of a group. That moral of fairness is more important and trumps the nonsense of both racism and the greater nonsense of anti-racism.

Anti-racism is simply an excuse for middle class students to be able to beat up the working class kids they hate without feeling guilty about it. The working class will stubbornly persist in not being socialists and not seeing their interests as being identical with those of foreign immigrants who would take their jobs for less money. The bastards! They should be punished. That is the motivation behind groups who ostensibly parade against fascism. They are frustrated that reality is more complicated than their precious theories. Parading on the streets and having ten minutes of shouting and kicking every few weeks gives them the impression that they are fighting the good fight: self-indulgent wankers.

Parading through the streets is for losers. The Labour party lost power and a coalition came into power. Did you see hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets to achieve this? No. When you do see people marching and shouting you know their voices are not being heard. Think about all the biggest marches Britain has ever seen and ask yourself what they achieved. There have been dozens of marches against Britain's nuclear deterrent, going back over FIFTY YEARS. CND has a history of fifty three years of demonstrable and abject failure, that's two more than Nick fucking Griffin.

I admire the stated aims of the English Defence League, a thoroughly non-racist opposition to Islamic extremism and calls for the introduction of sharia, but I think their tactics are pathetic. When has any political movement ever been defeated by either demonstrations or counter-demonstrations? Never. Parading through the streets is a recipe for disaster as it encourages support from lads who want a fight and discourages support from adults who vote and have the power to raise funds and organize. There is no point in parading against the few hundred Islamic nutters who march and rant, such protests will only play into the hands of the UAF, an unholy alliance of Trotskyists and Islamists. What a bunch of wankers the lot of them, my only problem is working out which ones are the deluded but sincere useful idiots and which ones are infiltrating for ulterior motives.
