Bravo on your choice to remove nudity. I'm no prude, but I liked your site for it's intellectual content.

Martin,

I am sort of glad you have removed the nude images from your site. I checked in fairly often to see what you were doing with them and always meant to contribute to your views on various issues but never got around to it. Your images were tasteful and it was refreshing to see women portrayed as real women. However, as a man I had a niggling concern that this site was being run by a man. I have recently been watching http://www.thebreastsite.com run by Sue Richards. There only nude images there are related to her Breast of Canada calendar - an initiative in support of breast cancer research. It seems to me that perhaps if you are a man if you don't want to do pornography you either set up a site dedicated to nude art, or you leave it to women. I'm not sure about this but this is how my thinking has been going for a short while now.

Well done on trying the experiment. best regards

I would always be a little bit concerned about such a site run by a woman, the worthiness might put off the men. I suppose the best compromise would be a site run by a small group of men and women or a couple.

At its best it was really worthwhile. Its best was showing attractive photographs of well adjusted women comfortable with their sexuality and promoting good causes they really believed in.

I did struggle with the fine line between showing a wider range of shapes and sizes than the conventional definition of female beauty and displaying images which were simply not attractive. I suppose having somebody else to bounce ideas off would have been a help. I felt quite bad about deciding that images were just too ugly to show, but my wife told me some of those I did show were too ugly, without pointing them out individually.

I suppose the best thing I can do now is to publish the comments I receive about making this move on a separate page and add links to other sites which are doing their bit for the cause of nudity for a reason and attractive and tasteful depictions of nudity free from the usual sordidness of conventional pornography.

On the whole I can say I am proud of what I achieved. I showed many men and women that nudity need not be sordid. But I took it as far as I could, to go on would have meant changing the rest of the site too much, I had created a monster.

Martin,

I can see your point to an extent regarding a site run by women.

However the following seem fairly good to me:

http://www.boobiethon.com/
http://www.breastofcanada.com/

Nevertheless, an editorial panel sounds like a good idea. This may have helped your struggle regarding showing a wider range of shapes and sizes.

You did have some very nice photos on your site, It was heart warming to see photos of women free from pornography - although I wondered about the inclusion of the very attractive women facing the American flag. I guess there were dilemmas every way you turned.

Thanks for having a go.

Your decision to withdraw the photos surprised me for about 5 milliseconds.

All the best with your interesting site.

I have reading from your site for a year or so but since you have deleted all the breast and pictures I will never visit agian "up yours"

No longer will you visit the site and look at the free pictures, contributing nothing in return. I think I can live with that.

Martin,

I spent some time this morning at your Web site and full well realize it is still full of thought provoking and humorous commentary. I am an atheist, too, and I appreciate your points of view on several fronts. I am also a boob geek and very much liked where you were going with that thread. I bookmarked your Web site long ago. It is very close to being a blog and that's not all bad. Blogs are the truest implementation of memetics and are currently at the stage of being a very intelligent infant. I have spent the last 44 years in the world of cybernetics and I am now spending most of my time really getting a grip on memetics. The best is yet to come.

I am not a very good singer, but dancing can be fun - depending on how many martinis I've had.

Cheers,

John
